The Memorandum of Understanding released today by the Clover Moore Party is deeply disappointing and short sighted in its approach to representative Government, the City of Sydney and its future.
‘Claiming that the Council will be held hostage by party politics and announcing an agreement with the Greens (a political party), is a hypocritical decision that flies in the face of any true democratic process. Clover Moore’s decision also fails to acknowledge the ideas and input of other Councillors made in the interests of those who elected them.’
‘Rather than formalising a working relationship with one political party, the Lord Mayor should be focusing on working with all Councillors and acknowledging the views of all members of the community not just those that follow her own political party’s agenda.’
‘This decision also confirms my fears that small business owners will once again be relegated to the bottom of the pack in any political manoeuvring between the Greens and the Clover Moore Party over the coming months before business owners are finally given a voice’, Councillor Vithoulkas said.
