It is resolved that:
(A) Council note:
(i) development proposal site notices must be clearly displayed on each site;
(ii) the method of displaying development proposal site notices usually involves laminating the document to protect it from weather;
(iii) the site notice is secured to a wall or fence so it is fixed in place and single sided;
(iv) on each development proposal site notice there is an instruction “on the back of this page we have included information to help you make a submission”.
This instruction to turn over the site notice for additional information is impossible for the public to do; and
(v) most people take a photo via a smart phone or tablet to record the details in the DA site notice as they are walking past in order to then attempt a submission; and
(B) the Chief Executive Officer be requested to:
(i) investigate the removal of the line “on the back of this page we have included information to help you make a submission”;
(ii) investigate the inclusion of the relevant information on the back of the DA Site Notice in order for better consultation and communication with the community;
(iii) investigate the possibility of the inclusion of a QR Code or other appropriate technology for each DA Site Notice to connect online directly with the relevant DA Site Notice and the information that would be available on the back page of the notice; and
(iv) report back to Council via the CEO Update.
