MOBILITY PERMITS CHANGES (S103147)

Question

When did the City make submissions to TfNSW and RMS seeking the adoption of national guidelines for mobility permits under which permit holders can park for double the sign posted time, rather than without restriction? When does the City expect to have a definitive answer? How will this change be communicated with affected permit holders who visit or reside in the City?

Answer by the Lord Mayor

In 2012, the NSW Government announced a review of the NSW Mobility Parking Scheme.

Following consultation with Councillors, the City of Sydney submission was lodged on 20 July 2012. It is understood that the completed review was submitted to the NSW Government in early 2014, but has not been released.

The NSW Government has not, to date, indicated whether it is considering adopting the national guidelines. Were the guidelines to be adopted, the City would work closely with Transport for NSW to inform and educate motorists and permit-holders.
