Council estimates that congestion costs residents and businesses $3.5 billion each year, which is forecast to swell to $8 billion by 2020. The accessibility of Sydney is linked to economic capacity and growth potential. We literally cannot afford to allow congestion to limit Sydney’s potential.
Public transport is clearly a central element of the solution to this challenge. Investments at State Government level will bring new public infrastructure assets into play but its critical that the long-term vision for Sydney is achieved while mitigating the impact on local businesses and residents today.
Angela Vithoulkas and the Sydney Matters Independent Team are committed to a multi-use transportation policy, which provides and supports different options for commuters, residents, tourism and business related traffic and draws on the latest technology to provide solutions that are future focused and viable.
