Councillor Vithoulkas successfully changes approval process for licensed premises applications

biz-hoursCouncillor Vithoulkas has successfully changed the Development Application process for licensed premises applications.

All new licensed premises in the City of Sydney area, including cafes, restaurants and small bars, must have their hours of operation and patron capacity displayed externally at all times.

SAFETY FIRST

Councillor Vithoulkas believes that in order to be a true global city, Sydney must be vibrant yet, most importantly, be safe and balanced across both the day time and night time economies.

The residents, visitors and businesses have a symbiotic relationship that should be harmonious and mutually respectful, however not all residential members of the community have felt safe and many have had their amenity badly affected by anti-social behaviour, particularly alcohol related.

This new requirement from new licensed premises will ensure licensed premises advertise their correct opening times and patron capacities and adhere to the same any possible breaches will be very obvious to the public and compliance officers. This, combined with a simplified complaints reporting system, will encourage licensed premises to operate within their conditions of consent.
