In 2017, a construction firm working on a major NSW highway upgrade went into liquidation, resulting in a failure to pay upwards of $7.5million to 23 NSW sub-contractors. These 23 families were working on a section of the $4.3billion Pacific Highway upgrade undertaken by the ROads and Maritime Service. Following the collapse of one of the major contractors, these 23 families have pleaded with the Government and Minister for Roads, Melinda Pavey for assistance. Many of the 23 sub-contractors are in extreme financial distress as a result, with loss of businesses, loss of family, and even suicidal ideation now a factor.
I am passionate about fighting for justice for this group of families, and is determined in getting the resolution these contractors deserve.
