The City of Sydney provides financial support to the South East Sydney Community Transport for community transport services, an important service offered to the frail and elderly in our community. On March 25, 2014 Council resolved to approve the variation to the ‘Grant Agreement between the Council of the City of Sydney and South East Sydney Community Transport Inc. for the provision of the Village to Village shuttle bus service’ to enable value in-kind support of up to $49,335 in financial year 2012/13, and up to $26,910 in financial year 2013/14, to be included for the purpose of secure parking and depot facilities at the Bay Street depot, Ultimo.
South East Sydney Community Transport additionally offers shopping bus services to eligible LGA residents and according to the South East Sydney Community Transport website, only two of seven shopping destinations offered is in the local government area of the City of Sydney.
Given that there are shopping centres in each village of the city of Sydney and the contracts with South East Community Transport have accountability measures incorporated in them, can the Lord Mayor please advise what encouragement has been given to South East Sydney Community Transport to support our local businesses and provide shopping destinations within the City of Sydney LGA?
